Stephan Herminghaus
Stephan Herminghaus / Professor of physics, University of Göttingen

Stephan Herminghaus is born in 23.6.1959 in Wiesbaden, Germany. He studies in Physics and Fine Arts (University of Mainz, 1978-1885), received a PhD degree in physics (1989 University of Mainz, Germany) and worked as Postdoc with IBM Almaden (San Jose, CA, 1990). He was Head of independent research group at MPI for Colloid and Interface Science, Berlin (1996-1998), full professor and head of Applied Physics Department at Ulm University (1999-2004).

Since 2003 he is the Director at MPI for Dynamics and Self-Organization, Göttingen and Adjunct professor at University Göttingen, since 2005.

Stephan Herminghaus research interests are complex fluids, non equilibrium systems and irreversibility

He receives various prizes such as the Annual Award of the University of Mainz (1989), IBM Fellowship (1990), Heisenberg Fellow (1995).

He is a member of the German Physical Society (DPG) and of the « Deutscher Hochschulverband » (DHV)
